TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock found their form with a four-goal third period Friday, which sent them on their way to a 7-2 victory over the Espanola Exoress in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at McIntyre Arena.

Some sustained pressure in the opening half of the first frame by the hosts finally resulted in Christopher Engelbert chipping one of the back of Espanola starter Matthew Loney and saw the puck trickle across the goal line at 9:12.

After dumping one down the ice while shorthanded early in the second, Espanola caught a break as Rock netminder Konrad Simard could not properly corral the disk, which allowed Kobe Braham enough time to dive and guide it in and collect his 12th tally overall.

However, still on the power play, Timmins came right back to take the lead thanks to Tyler Gilberds cranking a one-timer off a Nicholas Frederick feed that flew past Loney.

Up a skater once more, the Rock tacked on another at 6:46 with some patience and movement that resulted in Riley Brousseau being left with most of the net to aim at while sliding in his 15th of the season.

Another special teams’ tally got the Express back to within one as Braham banged in the rebound after teammate Ryan Rubic rang one of the post as the home side had a man in the penalty box.

It was all Timmins in the final frame though as they connected four times to put the game away.

Cameron Dutkiewicz began the outburst by hammering one from the right dot at 5:38.

He then added another a couple of shifts later as Nolan Ring saw him come in the back door and tap in his 16th of the year.

After Engelbert potted his second of the night by lifting one over Loney’s glove from prime shooting territory, Henry Brock capped off the win in the late going by tipping in a Felix Cadieux-Fredette effort while up a skater.

The triumph for Simard saw him improve to 9-0-0-0 for the Rock in his first season with the club.
