Mackay posts shutout as Wildcats blank Express

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – Aaron Mackay stopped all 25 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season to help backstop the Elliot Lake Wildcats to a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the Espanola Express Sunday night in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at Centennial Arena.

The Wildcats got things going offensively midway through the opening period as defenceman Nathan Campbell hammered one home on the power play for his third marker of the campaign.

Elliot Lake then upped their lead to two late in the session as Chad Lopez finished off the work of Cole Hepler and Troy Button at 18:02 for the final tally of the evening.

Mackay did the rest picking up his second shutout of the season for the Wildcats.

Kevin Labelle was also solid for Espanola in his debut with the club after being acquired by his hometown team from the Rayside-Balfour Canadians earlier this month.

He finished with 35 stops in the setback.
