Express welcome 2 new “Sons” to the family

As the summer winds down and hockey season is on the horizon, the roster is shaping up and looking good! The Espanola Express would like to announce they have signed 2 key Sudbury Nickel Sons players from the Midget AAA program.
Signing with the Express is the big defenceman and team captain of the Nickel Sons, Mitchal Payette. Standing at 5’11” 225lbs, Mitchal’s big frame works well with his physical presence on the ice. He sees the ice well and is able to slow down the game and make strong defensive decisions. The 97 birth year big defenceman has all the tools and potential to help our club both on and off the ice . “we are pleased to sign a player that can make an impact today and will grow to be an elite player in the league over the next 3 years, he is big, strong and almost impossible to move off the puck.” expressed GM Chad Clarke.
Also signing with the Express is the Nickel Sons leading scorer and highly coveted player, Joel Grandbois. He proved to be an offensive juggernaut last season scoring 24 goals and 25 assists, in 35 games, averaging 1.29 points per game in the GNML. Standing at 6’0″ 185lbs Joel will make a positive impact on the points stats column. “Joel is ready for a break out junior season and we couldn’t be happier to have him as part of the squad”, boasted Clarke.
Main tryout camp starts this Thursday August 20th in Espanola at the rec center. The Express are looking to finalize their roster during the weekend tryouts, as they prepare for their first game against the Elliot Lake Wildcats on Friday August 28th in EL. Stay tuned for more Express signings coming very soon.
