Express storm back to derail Wildcats in OT

ESPANOLA, Ont. – Down by two entering the third period, the Espanola Express stormed back to force overtime then win it in the extra session as they downed the Elliot Lake Wildcats 3-2 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up Sunday afternoon at the Regional Recreation Complex.

Elliot Lake got on the board first on a Brett Crook effort 67 seconds into the contest.

It stayed that way until the latter stages of the second stanza when the Wildcats’ Matthew Tozer put the visitors up by two through 40 minutes.

Espanola started their comeback 5:19 into the third on an unassisted effort from Riley Nadeau.

Nadeau then helped set-up the equalizer by Isaac Tkachuk just over two minutes later.

Heading into OT, the Express capped off the rally as Aaron Roschinsky buried the game-winner at 2:51 of the first extra session to give the home side the win.

Logan Sawka picked up the win while Matt Kostiw suffered the setback.
