3 Local players board the Express train

3 local players will be suiting up to play for the Express for the upcoming 2016-2017 NOJHL Season. All 3 players played for the Express last year and are a welcomed addition to this years squad.

Espanola native Riley Nadeau will be joining the Express again this season. The 98 birth year, speedy forward ranked 5th in scoring amongst rookies on the team with 8 goals, 13 assists for 21 points in 54 games. “Riley found his offensive game in the second half of the season where he scored 14 of his 21 points,” commented coach Rapcewicz. “We’re looking forward to Riley  picking up where he left off last year and continue to develop at the rate he has.” added Rapcewicz.

Another fellow Espanola player joining the Express next year is Jason Bednarski. The large power forward will be a welcome addition again this season. His physical play made him a fan favourite and the 97 birth year forward finished 4th in scoring last year with 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points in 48 games. “Jason also scored 18 of his 26 points last year in the second half of the season,”  explained Coach Rapcewicz. ” He has the tools to be a very productive forward in this league and as a 19 year we are looking for him to have a break out year,” remarked Rapcewicz.

M’Chigeeng resident Mitchal Payette was a pilar on the blue line last year and will be returning to his post for the upcoming season.  The physical defenceman not only punished opposing teams in the defensive zone he displayed an offensive touch as well, scoring 7 goals and 11 assists for 18 points in 53 games. “Mitchal developed into a strong defenceman for us last year and we will be looking for him to continue developing and dominating the puck this year,” stated general manger Scott Ginson.
