Express Halloween Fright Night a huge success

On Halloween the Express partnered up with the local Espanola Volunteer Fire Department and had an incredible evening with our local youth. The Fire Department graciously offered the use of their firehall for this event and decorated the hall with tons of scary decorations and sectioned off an area where the kids could play road hockey with their favourite Express players. “there were so many great kids with incredible costumes, who were laughing and enjoying themselves throughout the evening”, stated head coach Tom McCarthy. There was an estimated 300+ people who came out and enjoyed the event during their trick or treating adventures. “it was so much fun seeing all the youngsters in their costumes having alot of fun and even returning two or three times over the course of the evening. Some youngsters wanted to stay all evening but the lure of sacks full of candy soon prevailed”, offered GM Chad Clarke.

The youth and their families were greated at the fire hall door by Firemen and players where they collected their bounty of candy and moved on down the scary hallway decorated with a plethera of halloween decorations and scary sound effects in the background, now they could choose to go upstairs for face painting or choose to enter the scary arena to participate in the hockey game, where many young super heros and princess scored goals all evening long. “It’s feel good events like this that help us give back to the community, that helps support us and the young players looking to achieve their dreams”, stated Director of Operations Randy Blake. The Express would like to thank Freshco and the local Hostess Chips distributor for helping us with bucket loads of candy and chips to give away!!!
