Blind River skates to 4-1 road win at Espanola

ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers got goals from four different skaters and a 38-save performance from netminder Matt Blattenberger to help them skate to a 4-1 victory over the Espanola Express Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Regional Recreation Centre.

Blind River opened the scoring in the contest 15:40 into the first period on Jason Uhl’s seventh of the season.

The Beavers came right back and added another 48 seconds later to grab a 2-0 lead as Cole Murray collected his 14th of the campaign, which tied him for the overall team lead.

The visitors then went up by three notching the lone tally of the middle stanza courtesy of Steven Khull at 5:55.

Sean Paterson’s ninth put Blind River up by four 7:26 into the third period before Espanola broke Blattenberger’s shutout bid with 11:48 remaining in what would be the game’s final marker.

Ted Davis and Troy Murray had two assists apiece to aid the Beavers offensive cause.

Kevin Labelle faced 36 shots in defeat for the Express.
